Two long term residents of North Battleford, Doug Fehr, P Ag and Paul McCallister, P Ag, were recognized by their professional organization, the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists (SIA) at their annual meeting in Yorkton at the end of March. These two individuals are well known to the grain farmers in this area of the province. They received the Distinguished Agrologist Award for their long time service to the public and their profession. It is important to understand what the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists is. Here are a couple of quotes from the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists mission statement: “The Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists is an organization of university trained professionals that protects the public by ensuring its members are qualified and competent to provide knowledge and advice on agriculture and related areas.” “SIA was created to recognize the importance of identifying people who were trained to give professional advice thereby instilling confidence in the public.” The Distinguished Agrologist Award is presented to a member of SIA for professional distinction associated with an outstanding accomplishment in agriculture and bioresources which is recognized within the Province of Saskatchewan. Both these individuals have been long time members of SIA and have done an excellent job of representing agriculture in the region. Doug Fehr, P Ag, has been employed by Dupont Canada in North Battleford. He has provided producers with information on how to use the products that his company produces in the farmers fields in northwest Saskatchewan. Doug’s technical expertise is a tool that I use regularly in my job. Doug has also been very involved in his community and SIA. These activities gained him the nomination and the award as Distinguished Agrologist from SIA. Paul McCallister, P Ag, works with BASF Canada out of North Battleford. He provides technical support to growers and people like myself to insure that the products that he represents are used properly and effectively in the fields if the northwest. Like Doug Fehr, P Ag, Paul is also involved in his community as well as with SIA. He has become an important part of the agriculture industry in northwest Saskatchewan. As his career moves forward, he will continue to be an advisor that is respected and valued. Service to his community, to SIA and to the farmers of northwest Saskatchewan makes Paul a worthy recipient of SIA’s Distinguished Agrologist Award. I would like to extend my congratulations from myself and the crew at Cavalier Agrow to these very worthy recipients of the Distinguished Agrologist Award. We sell science at Cavalier Agrow. Doug Fehr, P Ag, and Paul McCallister, P Ag are part of the team that help us bring ag services to our customers. Their skill and expertise is important to us and was recognized by SIA when they presented these two worthy recipients the Distinguished Agrologist Award. Congratulations to both of you on your achievement.
